Vision, Mission, and Strategy
My story was about how I unintentionally created a personal brand that shaped my career.
Throughout my career, I sensed that I viewed things differently than other internal auditors. At first, this was simply a curious observation.
But over the years, my natural introspection took over. And I considered the question – How was my approach different?
I came to realize that I was never focused on being a great internal auditor. I was focused on adding value and contributing to the overall success of the organization. Internal audit was my available tool. And a darned good one.
And I came to better understand why I see things a bit differently.
It starts with a Vision
I see internal auditors as a unique and essential part of any organization’s strategic success.
I often talk with internal auditors who want a bigger impact on their organization. They want that seat at the table. But they wonder if there’s a practical way to achieve it.
I know from experience that internal auditors can be an influential force.
And I am confident that every internal auditor can become an essential member of the leadership team.
The Mission is to broadly change perception
I am helping internal auditors, at all levels, recognize that adding value to others is the roadmap for personal and professional success.
Looking back, my influence soared when I shifted my focus from preparing workpapers and issuing audit reports and started focusing, instead, on how I can help others achieve their goals.
There’s a simple reason for this. Anyone who adds value is welcomed and appreciated. Even internal auditors.
And it’s supported by a tangible Strategy
TEA provides a practical approach that internal auditors can use to translate their unique skills and interests into a valuable personal brand.
I am helping internal auditors thoughtfully and intentionally decide how they want to add value to others.
And, once they’ve distilled their unique approach to adding value, I’ll help them create plans to announce, maintain, and evolve this new personal brand.
